About Us
Rainbow has been serving Noe Valley families since 1985.
In 2020, in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, Rainbow restructured our program to combine small group outdoor learning with both on-site and virtual enrichment activities.

History
Kimberly Hughes, M.A., the Director of Rainbow Family Childcare, began Rainbow after struggling to find a program for her own children that emphasized the teachings of early childhood development.
Kimberly created a program for children that promotes relationship building and learning in a small group setting with teachers who are dedicated to the education of young children.
Rainbow has taught children for over 30 years. Rainbow believes that the success of this program is rooted in the partnership that is developed with our Rainbow Parents and our strong sense of community.
In 2020, Rainbow began a new half-day program that focuses on outdoor exploration and activities.
Class Size
At Rainbow, we believe that children thrive in small, supportive environments with low child to teacher ratios.
Rainbow provides care to a maximum of 6 children per day ranging in age from 18 months to 4 years old.
Each yearly class is balanced by age and gender.

Health & Safety
The health and safety of the staff and children at Rainbow is of the upmost importance. All staff are Infant & Toddler CPR certified annually and all staff have extensive experience working with young children.
Common areas, play structures, surfaces and toys are cleaned and sanitized multiple times per day.
Children are taught proper hand washing techniques and hands are washed and sanitized throughout the day.
Rainbow's small class size and private outdoor playground helps maintain a healthy environment for our Rainbow families and staff.
