Meet the Team

Kimberly Hughes, M.A.

Director

Kim has owned and directed Rainbow Family Childcare since 1985. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, emphasis in Child Development, and a Master of Arts in Early Childhood Education. In addition to teaching the children at Rainbow, she lectured in Child Development at SFSU for 10 years. She is a proud mother and grandmother.

Teacher Annina, M.A. 

Assistant Director 

Annina holds a Masters in Psychology with an emphasis in child development. She has been a teacher at Rainbow since 2009. She has worked with children, families and parents for over 15 years. When she is not teaching you can find her hiking with her dog Rory and daughter Nora.

Teacher Hilary, M.A.

Lead Art & Science Instructor 

 Hilary holds a Masters of Fine Arts  and has worked in Reggio inspired outdoor preschools. She has taught art and painting to children through Little Rembrandts and has provided art therapy to developmentally challenged adults. Hilary is a recognized artist who often shows her work.

Gardener Joanna

Lead Gardner 

Gardener Joanna is a horticulture educator who has been sharing her love of gardening with Rainbow since 2013. She is involved with organizations throughout the Bay Area including the Please Touch Community Garden and Natural Builder promoting urban agriculture.  Joanna helps care for our Rainbow Garden and teaches children how to plant and harvest their very own organic garden.

 

All of the bounty the children harvest in the Rainbow Garden is shared with our families.

JAMaROO Kids

Enrichment Activities 

JAMaROO teachers specialize in developmentally appropriate dance and music classes for children. Children learn how to express themselves using various instruments, singing,  dancing and through yoga. JAMaROO brings fun and energy to our program.
